THREE basketballers from The Hills will try their luck in the US next month as they attempt to land a college basketball contract.
Castle Hill trio Sam Brock, Petar Kuzmanovic and David Hayman all impressed at the recent Waratah Basketball League finals in Maitland and were invited to tour the US west coast with representative coach William Hill.
"All three of the boys can play and are good enough to make it in the US college system," Hill said.
"I think these boys have slipped through the cracks somewhat and should impress."
The 13-day tour will give the trio a chance to play against a mixture of prep-schools and colleges in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Arizona and San Diego.
"This tour will expose the guys to superior coaching and physically stronger opponents which is important for their development," Hill said. Hills Hornets duo Brock and Hayman said they were both excited to be selected for the tour and have the chance to trial for a college contract.
"This firmly puts us in the shop window for selection," Brock said.
"We'll be up against guys well over two metres tall so it will be a good challenge to try and mark these quick players."
Kuzmanovic is also hoping to impress after averaging 15 points a game with Waratah League champions Blacktown Storm this season.
"I've never been out of the country before so this trip will be a cultural experience as well as helping my basketball," he said.
