The infamous yellow Porsche convertible allegedly used to do doughnuts in Castlebrook Cemetery in early January has been returned to its owner — after a near miss with a wrecking ball.
Pick ’n Payless Blacktown confirmed it was picked up in the past week.
Readers will recall the 40-year-old woman from Kellyville Ridge who was charged with ‘‘doing doughnuts’’ in the carpark of Riverstone Bowling Club and then Castlebrook Cemetery in Rouse Hill on January 7.
She was driving a yellow Porsche convertible when stopped by police, telling officers she had been ‘‘having a bad day’’ and this made her ‘‘feel better’’.
Fairfax Media’s readers, particularly our online community, were surprised when the woman came back to the cemetery the next day and left her car behind — as was the cemetery’s communications manager, Karl Wolfenden.
‘‘My understanding is it’s unregistered, uninsured and she’s unlicensed but nevertheless, it’s a Porsche! So it surprised me it hadn’t been collected,’’ Mr Wolfenden told the Rouse Hill Courier today.
He said they notified Blacktown Council of the Porsche on their grounds after police said they would would have to remove it at their own expense, ‘‘because it’s not blocking any public road’’.
Typically, a vehicle abandoned or left unattended on the side of the road is given a 48-hour removal notice (orange sticker).
In this case, the Porsche was removed from the cemetery about two or three days after notice was given, Mr Wolfenden said.
It appears it was then taken to Pick ’n Payless.
The woman who allegedly left it there is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on February 23 charged with prolonged loss of traction, suspended driver and unregistered vehicle.
The car was confiscated on January 7.
