Almost a month after announcing she would do so former health minister Jillian Skinner has formally tendered her resignation from the NSW Parliament.
Mrs Skinner, who was dumped as health minister in Premier Gladys Berejiklian's first reshuffle, wrote to Speaker Shelley Hancock on Monday night.
There has been speculation that Mrs Skinner was delaying her resignation in a fit of pique after she was removed from her favoured portfolio she held for six years.
The resignation allows Ms Hancock to consult with the NSW electoral Commission about the date for a byelection in Mrs Skinner's seat of North Shore, ex-Premier Mike Baird's former seat of Manly and the seat of Gosford, formerly held by retiring Labor MP Kathy Smith.
There is speculation the byelections could be held on March 25 or April 8.
