POLICE have charged a Richmond man after an attempted carjacking at Wilberforce on July 11.
The 18-year-old was charged at Windsor Police Station on Friday morning with ‘assault with intent to rob armed with offensive weapon’. He was refused bail to appear at Penrith Local Court.
The victim of the alleged carjacking, also 18, was sitting in his car at the Wilberforce shops at about 6.30pm on July 11 when another man allegedly approached his car with a knife.
While in his car, an assailant wearing a balaclava approached the driver and allegedly threatened him with a knife, punching him in the face and demanding he hand over his wallet.
The driver told TNV Webcam that he “panicked and hit the throttle”. His car crashed into another and flipped. The masked assailant fled the scene.
